President Carter Goes Specialized

Published November 19, 2007

MORGAN HILL, CA (BRAIN)—It’s not every day that the 39th President, who by the way is over 80 years old, shucks his running routine in favor of riding, and in particular, a Specialized Globe.

When Atlanta's Outback Bikes was approached earlier this week to fix up a set of old bikes for former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife, the shop responded with a shiny new pair of men’s and women’s Globe Elite IG8s.

After his 80th birthday, President Carter was forced to abandon his normal running routine and opted instead to take up low-impact cycling to maintain his healthy lifestyle.

Peter and Kate Wicker from Outback Bikes hand delivered the two Globes to the presidential couple at the nearby Carter Center, a mere five minutes away from Outback Bikes. The Carter Center was established by President Carter after his presidency as a means of advancing democracy, human rights and global health.
