SAN CARLOS, CA (BRAIN)—Ritchey Design has hired Sean Coffey as its U.S. director of marketing, a newly created position that will bolster Ritchey Design’s marketing team in its efforts to strengthen the Ritchey Design and Syncros Applied Technology brand positions.

Coffey comes to the Ritchey Design marketing department with eight years of experience managing Easton Bell Sports’ (EBS) Easton and Blackburn brands, according to a press release. While at EBS, Coffey was closely involved with product development, web development, team sponsorship, public relations, copy writing and ad/catalog creation.

Before Coffey joined EBS, he was a web editor and staff writer at Rodale Publishing for Bicycling Magazine where he tested and reviewed products, wrote tech and feature stories, and managed the magazine’s web content.

“The Ritchey and Syncros brands have a long history of category-leading product innovation backed by world class race results,” Coffey said. “I’m happy to be a part of the team, and excited to help drive these brands to the next level.”

Ritchey Design sought a director of marketing with experience leading brand development and marketing strategies to improve brand presence and strengthen sales management directives.

“Sean’s experience bringing Easton and Blackburn back into prominence proves that he is the right person to strengthen the Ritchey and Syncros brands within and outside the bike industry,” said Ming Tan, Ritchey Design’s general manager. “The marketing team under Sean’s leadership is now tasked to make significant steps forward in renewing Ritchey and Syncros’ brand presence with loyal and new audiences.”

Coffey’s first day with Ritchey Design was yesterday.
