SAN DIEGO, CA (BRAIN)—Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI) has hired Alex Baxter as its chief digital officer. Baxter will spearhead CGI’s online media operation, reporting directly to CEO Peter Englehart.

“I am thrilled to welcome someone of Alex Baxter’s experience to our senior executive team,” Englehart said. “He brings tremendous perspective from multiple digital ventures, which will be instrumental in helping to expand our online audience and leverage growth opportunities around the world.”

Baxter comes to CGI after two years as the general manager of Digital Media for Conde Nast’s Parade Publications (recognized as a 2010 MIN Digital Team of the Year), where he led interactive strategy for the nation’s most widely circulated magazine, managing three networks, four websites, and mobile products that reach over 50 million unique visitors every month.

Prior to Parade, Baxter was executive director of Digital Media at Wenner Media (Rolling Stone, Us Weekly and Men’s Journal) where he spearheaded internet, mobile, video and other interactive initiatives. His experience also includes time at 4INFO and Dow Jones & Co.’s The Wall Street Journal.

“Competitor is in a unique position as the leader in a growing industry with world-class management that knows how to leverage multi-platform content offerings,” Baxter said. “I am excited to join the team and look forward to helping capitalize on its growth momentum to reach the next level.”
