Easton-Bell Sports sales down 5% in first half

Published August 14, 2013

VAN NUYS, CA (BRAIN) — Easton-Bell Sports sales fell 5 percent in the first half of this year, a decline the company attributed to its team sports sales. The company's Action Sports division was flat, with strong helmet sales offset by declines in sales of Easton cycling products and an exit from the fitness equipment market.

The company's sales totaled $409.2 million over the first six months of the year, compared to $430.4 million last year. In the second quarter, the company’s sales dropped 6 percent, to $201.6 million from $214.1 last year.

Team Sports net sales decreased $11.6 million on soft hockey sales and the company's exit from the lacrosse market.
