Momentum magazine launches online store

Published May 5, 2015

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN) — Momentum magazine has launched an online store to sell city cycling essentials such as bags, baskets, lights, helmets and casual clothing to everyday riders.

"The store is a continuation of what we do in our print magazine and online," said Mia Kohout, CEO and editor-in-chief of Momentum. "We wanted to give our readers easier access to the great products that we feature. Many are not easily accessible in bike stores. We are the only single-source provider of content and products that enhance an urban cycling lifestyle experience. We strive to help get more people on bikes by providing great content and now a great online retail experience."

Momentum editors have selected the initial products based on their own tastes and testing, which include fashionable clothing from Ligne 8, bags from Po Campo and baskets from Nantucket Bike Basket Co. The store carries products from Cleverhood, Dish, DU/ER, Green Guru, Ligne 8, Linus, Nantucket, Nutcase, Planet Bike, Po Campo, Saris and Yepp.

Currently, the brands are drop-shipping the product to consumers. But Kohout said the magazine may start shipping products directly in the future. She also said she hopes to add more brands.

"This is just a start. We want to ensure that we give our customers a great shopping experience from ordering to shipping to receiving," she said. "Once we know the process and experience works and gives our customers a great experience, we will add more brands."

The Momentum Mag Shop also expands on the media company's coverage of the cycling lifestyle with in-depth reviews and interviews with the people behind the brands. These stories run alongside online product listings.

The new online store is at momentummag.com/shop.
