EUGENE, Ore. (BRAIN) — Burley Design has promoted Nick Coughlin to marketing manager and hired Scott Spence as director of product development, quality and regulatory compliance.

Coughlin, son of Burley CEO Mike Coughlin, has been working for the family-owned business for the past four years, most recently as a marketing specialist. As marketing manager, Coughlin's responsibilities include preparation and implementation of marketing plans and strategies, marketing asset creation, website maintenance, digital marketing, and the delegation of these and other duties across the marketing team.

"Working for Burley has not only built — and finessed — my marketing skill set, but it has also provided me with an invaluable look at what it takes to successfully run a small company," Coughlin said. "I'm proud to be a part of our family business and really looking forward to taking on even more responsibility as marketing manager."

Spence brings more than 27 years of engineering experience with a focus on product design, development and launch to the Burley team. He was most recently at Combi USA as director of product development, quality and regulatory.

"Scott Spence brings tremendous, relevant experience to our brand and a passion for product development," said Burley's president, Allison Coughlin. "We're looking forward to his fresh ideas and strategic innovation as we continue to position ourselves as the leader in recreational transport gear."
