RockyMounts to hold kids' bike building night in Boulder

Published November 9, 2016

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — RockyMount is helping the Wish for Wheels campaign give bicycles to kids in local lower income communities at one of the company's regular "Guest Bartender" events, Thursday evening.

"I remember getting my first bike, the world it opened up and the confidence it gave me," said RockyMounts' president, Bruno Maier. "When Wish for Wheels asked for help, we jumped at the chance."

Wish for Wheels Bike Giveaway Wish for Wheels provides new bikes and helmets to kindergarten through second grade kids living in lower income communities. Those who wish to help can pre-purchase a bike online at wishforwheels.org, and assemble it during the event from 5-9 p.m. at RockyMounts' retail location at 2845 29th, Suite B in Boulder.

A tax-deductible contribution of $100 donates a bike and helmet, and includes entry to the Guest Bartender night and a free beer from Avery Brewing. For those who just want to attend and help build bikes, entry is $10 per person if arriving by car, and $5 by bike. Wish for Wheels will bring the bikes and tools, and show participants how to build a bike.

Individuals and companies of any size are encouraged to participate. So far, Ball Corporation, Kaiser Permanente, The Pro's Closet, Zayo, RockyMounts, PeopleForBikes and several individuals have already donated.

Guest bartenders for the event will be chef Biju Thomas of Denver's Biju's Little Curry Shop and Skratch Labs, and Wish for Wheels' founder, Brad Appel.

"A new bike will change a kid's life with wellness, community, responsibility, adventure and fun," said Appel. "Engaging this amazing community and working with RockyMounts and Avery Brewing to make a difference in a child's life is humbling and exciting at the same time."
