Bike hooks sold at Home Depot being recalled

Published April 15, 2015

WATERLOO, Iowa (BRAIN) — The maker of bike storage hooks sold exclusively at Home Depot is recalling about 120,000 of the hooks because they can detach and allow a bike to fall.

The recall involves hooks sold under the Husky Securelock brand, used with the Husky Trackwall garage storage system. They were manufactured in China for Waterloo Industries of Iowa. The hooks were sold by Home Depot from 2011 until last month.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the company has received reports of 22 of the hooks failing. The incidents did not result in any personal injury, but did cause damage to bikes and nearby vehicles.

The firm is recalling about 105,000 hooks sold in the U.S. and 15,000 sold in Canada.

Consumers are being told to immediately stop using the recalled hooks and return them to the nearest Home Depot store for a full refund.
