ASI recalls some Fuji bikes because of freehub concern

Published March 15, 2017

PHILADELPHIA (BRAIN) — Advanced Sports International is recalling about 650 road bikes because the bikes' freehubs can slip while the rider is pedaling. The company is replacing the freehub bodies on the bikes.

The company said that while the slippage could create a fall hazard, it has received no reports of crashes or injuries. It has received four reports of slipping freehubs.

Consumers are being told to stop riding the bikes and to contact ASI to receive a replacement freehub body. Advanced Sports International can be called toll-free at 888-286‐6263 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or online at fujibikes.com or ovalconcepts.com and click on "Recall Notice" at the bottom of the page for more information.

This recall involves 2017 Fuji bicycles with Oval Concepts rear wheels. The aluminum or carbon fiber bicycles come in a variety of colors.

The bicycle model name is printed on the frame of the bicycle. The wheel model number is printed on the rim. The hub model number is printed on the drive-side hub flange.
