Rockgeist Bikepack USA recalls about 420 BarJam brackets

Published September 30, 2022

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Rockgeist Bikepack USA is recalling about 420 BarJam Brackets, which allow cyclists to attach gear or bags to handlebars, because they can crack or break during use.

The company received three reports of incidents of the brackets breaking and cracking. No injuries have been reported.

"For past customers we are replacing your affected BarJam brackets with improved, re-designed brackets free of charge.  We have worked with our local machine shop on a redesign of the brackets that has solved the design problem. The new bracket changed a bolt location and leaves significantly more metal in the bracket arm for a substantial increase in strength. The prototype has been completed and tested, and now we are waiting on the full production run," the company said on its website

Consumers are being told to stop using the product and contact Rockgeist directly to arrange for a replacement. The company can be reached at 828-747-7083 from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or emailed at bikepack@rockgeist.com. There is also information online at rockgeist.com/41854-2/.

The brackets were sold in black and have the word "rockgeist" in white lettering. Any and all brackets with the word "rockgeist" in white lettering are included in this recall. Rockgeist is contacting all known purchasers directly.

The products were sold online at www.rockgeist.com from September 2021 through August 2022 for between about $135 and $205. They were manufactured in the U.S.
