GOLDEN, CO (BRAIN) — Spot Brand has hired 19-year bicycle industry veteran Adam Williams as sales director.

Williams worked as a sales rep, tech rep and demo tour manager for Rocky Mountain Bicycles; he also helped start and grow Golden Bike Shop, a local IBD.

OLATHE, KS (BRAIN) — Garmin Ltd.’s fitness division, which includes the company’s cycling products, saw strong sales growth in the third quarter, a period that included the introduction of the new Edge Touring cycle computer and Vector power meter.

Bike-related sales to Europe and U.S. were down, Asian sales up

OSAKA, Japan (BRAIN) — Shimano’s sales climbed to $2.03 billion (199.501 billion yen) over the first nine months of the year, up from $1.86 billon (182.739 billion yen) over the same period last year.

SEATTLE, WA (BRAIN) — Wheel maker Mad Fiber has shut down its Seattle factory and, according to several sources, may be headed for bankruptcy.

The carbon fiber wheel maker was merged with the Divine Cycling Group earlier this year. DCG’s current connection to Mad Fiber is unclear.
