Belgian fit company, Cyclefit, has new owner

Published April 2, 2013

HAMONT, Belgium (BRAIN) — The Belgian bike fitting brand Cyclefit, which was owned by the now-bankrupt distributor Veltec Benelux, has a new owner, former Veltec Benelux employee Niels Heuvelman.

Cyclefit was founded more than 25 years ago by Charles de Vey Mestdagh, who sold it to Veltec Benelux founder Manfred Krikke in 1990. The company estimates it has fit 180,000 cyclists in its history.

Last month Huevelman formed a new company, Innovative Cycling, to take over Cyclefit. He said his aim is to "grow Cyclefit to a leading brand in bike positioning in and outside the Benelux." He said he has consulted de Vey Mestdagh and they will work together on keeping the positioning system up to date.

The first focus will be on Benelux market, he said, but noted that the system is already available in four languages so it can grow quickly in other markets.
