Trek expands support for high school leagues

Published April 1, 2013

WATERLOO, WI (BRAIN) — Trek has expanded its sponsorship of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association to offer high school athletes the same benefits as other racers supported by Trek's retailer-sponsored athlete program.

"Supporting NICA is supporting the future of U.S. mountain biking and we’re excited to be part of ensuring young athletes can not only participate, but do so on the best equipment available," said Brandon Buth, Trek's director of advocacy.

In addition to its financial support for the growing program, Trek is offering discounts to NICA athletes on selected bike models.

NICA now serves nearly 300 high schools, 763 licensed coaches and programming for nearly 2,500 student-athletes. The league expects to grow 20-30 percent this year.
