WASHINGTON, DC (BRAIN) — The League of American Bicyclists has designated nine new  schools to its "Bicycle Friendly Universities" list, bringing the total to 44 institutions in 25 states. Among the new names on the list are Ivy League schools Yale and Princeton, League officials noted.

MADISON, WI (BRAIN) — Organizers of this Friday's 9th annual Saris Gala expect the event to maintain its status as the largest single-night advocacy fundraiser in the U.S. The Gala has raised more than $650,000 in its first eight editions.

BTAC appoints Bill Yetman executive director

TORONTO, Canada (BRAIN) — The Bicycle Trade Association of Canada has appointed Bill Yetman as its new executive director. Yetman is replacing Janet O'Connell-Bauer, who is moving on after 12 years with the association.

CRESTED BUTTE, CO (BRAIN) — Gary Sjoquist, the director of QBP's advocacy program, has been elected to the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, which is in Crested Butte. He will be officially inducted into the Hall at a ceremony during the Interbike show in Las Vegas later this month.

FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany (BRAIN)—Business and advocacy leaders gathered at the first Advocacy Summit held at Eurobike Thursday to discuss how to unlock 6 billion euros of government funding for new cycling infrastructure to stimulate bicycle sales in a stagnant market.
