Can’d Aid wins crowd-sourced fifth donation among a group of 41-non-profit nominees.

Pleasant Valley, MO –  Chamois Buttr, the ultimate skin lubricant, and chamois cream, believes bikes solve all kinds of problems, from environmental and transportation to health and wellness. During National Bike Month this past May Chamois Butt’r ran a grant campaign, which made five $1,000 grant donations to non-profit bike organizations, OutrideBike Club OKCNo Kid HungryNICA Kansas, and—the crowdsourced winner that Chamois Butt’r fans nominated— Cand Aid

Can’d Aid, a national nonprofit based in Colorado, rallies volunteers from all walks to build thriving communities. Their Treads + Trails program focuses on providing underserved youth new bikes, skateboards and helmets so they have an active way to opt outside, away from screens, to begin developing healthy habits. They have responded to more than fifty national disasters and shipped more than 2.5 million cans of clean drinking water to communities in need through their Water + Response program. Can’d Aid’s Music + Arts initiatives have supported music education through the donation of more than 2,000 instruments to public school music programs and provided hands on music workshops with the help of their nationally touring Tunes Ambassadors. And finally, Can’d Aid has supported the recycling of 73MM (yes million) cans as part of their national recycling program, Crush it CrusadeThis is a deserving winner if you ask us!

“We are thrilled to see how active our community was during Bike Month. Based on the participation we saw, we will continue to find unique ways to leverage our bike community to do good outside of Bike Month,” said Kara Mathews, Chamois Butt’r marketing and partnerships manager. “Finding ways to raise awareness for and make donations to people that are doing good in our communities takes our mission to improve every ride just that step further. We look forward to doing more to support grassroots programs, again, in the near future.”

Chamois Butt’r staff pre-picked four organizations to receive a donation each week during bike month—OutrideBike Club OKCNo Kid HungryNICA Kansas. They received help from the organizations themselves and a number of professional Chamois Butt’r riders— Alison TetrickPhil Gaimon, and Rebecca Rusch, as well as Chamois Buttr ambassadors to promote the campaign through a wide variety of digital channels and on the ground. Outside of this occasion, Chamois Butt’r works one-on-one with all of these partners throughout the year to support their causes.

To further engage riders during Bike Month, Chamois Butt’r crowdsourced a fifth non-profit donation recipient via social media during the month of May. The response was impressive. 63 individual responses nominated 41 different, bike-focused non-profit organizations, that are all carrying out various types of important work to put more people on bikes. From this group, Chamois Butt’r staff picked Can’d Aid for the final Chamois Butt’r bike month grant donation of $1,000.

“Can’d Aid’s tagline is fueled by people power, so it was serendipitous to hear that the people had chosen us for a grant from Chamois Butt’r,” said Diana Ralston, Executive Director, Can’d Aid. “Through our Treads + Trails program, thousands of volunteers have helped build and donate more than 6,000 bikes and skateboards to underserved kids across the country. It’s awesome to be connected with a like-minded company interested in giving back and doing good!”

Every rider that made a suggestion for the final non-profit donation via Chamios Butt’r’s social and online form was entered to win a weekly Chamois Butt’r giveaway that included a year’s supply of Chamois Butt’r and other surprises.
