Since launching in Colorado in 2013, Can’d Aid’s movement has inspired communities nationwide to get active outdoors

DENVER, Aug. 9, 2023 – Colorado-based nonprofit Can’d Aid will build its 10,000th bike this month during its 10 year Anniversary Party. The stars aligned for the local nonprofit, who is building a nationwide movement that empowers people to give back in their own communities, and the event will celebrate the huge milestone as volunteers build bikes and skateboards and assemble art kits for underserved youth in the area.

Over the past 10 years, Can’d Aid has created a movement rallying people from all walks of life to become catalysts for change in their own communities. Through the organization's Treads + Trails program, Can’d Aid has built and donated more than 2,800 bikes in 2022 alone.

The 10,000th bike is a milestone we are so grateful to celebrate alongside our 10 year anniversary,” says Can’d Aid Founder and Executive Director Diana Ralston. “The volunteers and staff members who bring the Treads + Trails program to life have brought joy to so many children over the years and we continue to be inspired by the passion our communities have for giving back.”

The program's success stems from the fact that the volunteers who will build the bikes come from the communities they serve. The 10,000th bike will be built and donated to a Coloradan youth.

The nonprofit was established to provide relief following the devastating floods that overtook Boulder County in 2013. In its first year, Can’d Aid provided funding for recovery and hosted cleanups and rebuilding projects for the community in its time of need.

Since then, Can’d Aid has canned and distributed emergency drinking water in response to disasters nationwide, hosted more than 11,000 volunteer-led projects across the US that support sustainability, disaster relief, physical health and mental wellness. Last year in Colorado alone, this included building 1,500 bikes and skateboards and donating over 110 instruments to underserved youth as a part of the national movement to get children outside, active and creative.

Join the anniversary party and come build bikes and skateboards and assemble art kits which will be donated to underserved youth in the Denver area. Following the volunteer event at Oskar Blues Grill & Brew on Market Street in Downtown Denver, volunteers are encouraged to stay for a ticketed live concert featuring Can’d Aid Tunes Ambassadors Arthur Hancock and Songs From the Road Band at the Black Buzzard, the on-premise music venue.
