VAIL, Colo. – Roll (roll.ooo), a new web-based platform designed to help cyclists find rides and events, has launched nationwide in the U.S. The free site aggregates cycling events from registration platforms and presents them in one place. Roll also adds a lightweight social layer so riders can follow friends, see what friends are doing, and get notified when people they follow join rides and events.
Founder Jake Sigal, a longtime cycling-industry entrepreneur, said the idea stemmed from a common frustration among cyclists. Discovering rides and events often requires checking multiple websites, club pages, social feeds, Slack channels, and email lists.
“In many cases, riders hear about rides or events through word of mouth or by stumbling across a flyer or social post,” Sigal said. “Roll is designed to make it faster to see what’s happening and who else is going.”
For bike shops, clubs, and event organizers, Roll is intended to serve as a discovery layer that helps more riders find and attend existing rides and events. Roll is also working with independent bicycle dealers (IBDs) by offering a simple widget that shops can embed on their websites to promote shop rides, demo days, and sponsored events.
Roll is focused on helping riders discover rides and events while leaving registration and existing organizer relationships in place.
The platform is intended to complement existing clubs, bike shops, and event organizers rather than replace them.
By making rides and events easier to find, Sigal said the goal is to increase participation and help more riders show up.
Roll is free for riders and available at roll.ooo.
