SHERBROOKE, Quebec (BRAIN) — Paul Mckenzie, the longtime owner of the Arkel bike bag brand, has sold the company to Marc Desrosiers, a former product developer at Bombardier Recreational Products.

Arkel was founded in Montreal 34 years ago and relocated to Sherbrooke in 2008. Mckenzie had owned Arkel for the last for 25 years. The company is one of the best-known brands in bike luggage and its products are sold worldwide.

Desrosiers was a senior buyer in the BRP accessory products development. He was a founding member of the cycling organizations Vélo Urbain Sherbrooke and Sentiers Sherbrooke. He also started the Quebec bike rack company Panache Rack with two other partners.

"With the Arkel team, Marc Desrosiers takes over the company with the desire to continue manufacturing products in Canada and to develop new lines of Arkel products," the company said.
