MORGAN HILL, Calif. (BRAIN) — Specialized Bicycles is closing its California Auburn Innovation Center that opened last year and moving employees there to the brand's primary headquarters to enhance collaboration.
According to a Specialized spokesperson, the brand is continuing to invest in its Morgan Hill location, located about 170 miles southwest of Auburn, where its mountain bike product team was located. Morgan Hill is home to its WinTunnel, carbon lab, test lab, and Human Performance Lab.
The move, according to the spokesperson, will reduce complexity and help serve riders and support retailers.
The Morgan Hill expansion included relocating employees in May from Colorado, where Specialized purchased a Louisville location that was used for equipment development and for its Retül fitting business. The building was previously home to Pearl Izumi's headquarters.
The company also previously operated an Experience Center in Boulder, which closed several years ago.
