BTI to Distribute Commencal

Published October 16, 2007

SANTA FE, NM (BRAIN)—Bicycle Technologies International (BTI) will act as the exclusive U.S. distributor for European mountain bike brand Commencal Bicycles.

“We approached BTI because of the company’s reputation for outstanding customer service and its nationwide dealer network, as well as BTI’s demonstrated commitment to independent dealers,” said David Pergant, Commencal’s export sales manager.

Commencal will be distributed out of the BTI facility, but will have its own dedicated management and sales team. Differing from BTI’s existing sales model, Commencal will be offered in the United States only through authorized dealers.

“We are very excited to be able to bring Commencal frames and bicycles to the U.S. market,” said Preston Martin, vice president of BTI. “Commencal’s high performance mountain bikes offer innovation and quality that separate the brand from the competition.”

BTI is expecting its first shipment of limited quantities to arrive this October. The second shipment representing the full line is due in late February 2008. To house the bicycles, BTI has invested in an additional warehouse space close to its existing warehouse. BTI is in the process of building a new 75,000-square-foot distribution center in Santa Fe to expand operations. BTI expects to move in to the new facility in January 2009.

BTI will display Commencal bikes at Interbike and offer a range of test bikes at the Outdoor Demo.
