WINTER PARK, CO (BRAIN)—Winter Park Resort’s Trestle Bike Park will host the fifth annual Crankworx Colorado mountain bike festival July 28 – 31, 2011.

Proving to be the largest freeride mountain festival the United States, the 2010 event exceeded expectations with record breaking attendance for Trestle Bike Park, according to a press release. Already looking at next season, the Crankworx Colorado team has plans under way for a larger event in 2011 which will again include Slopestyle, Best Trick, Cross-Country, Super Downhill, Dual Slalom and for the second year—a UCI Downhill event.

Crankworx Colorado is now scheduled to follow Kokanee Crankworx, scheduled in Whistler, B.C. for July 16- 24, 2011. It will also be one of the last events in determining the FMBA (Freeride Mountain Bike Association) Overall Series Champion.

“Over the next six months we will explore potentially adding events to the Crankworx Colorado schedule to further broaden the types of mountain bike races featured during the festival. With multiple date changes in the upcoming competitive season, the Crankworx Colorado team decided the dates for the 2011 event will remain during the final week of July,” said Bob Holme, Crankworx Colorado, bike park and youth marketing manager at Winter Park Resort. “The momentum and success of Crankworx Colorado has been amazing in only a few short years. We are proud to host the best nationally recognized racers and are constantly thinking of ways to improve the race courses and experience for both athletes and spectators.”
