Published August 31, 2011

NEWBURY PARK, CA (BRAIN)—Silas Hesterberg has joined Giant’s Global Development team in the role of global product developer - off-road.

In his new position he’s responsible for enhancing and expanding Giant’s line of off-road bikes, with a strong focus on the sport and hardtail segments.

An industry veteran, Hesterberg comes to Giant after seven years at Scott USA where he was U.S. bike product manager. “I’m really excited about the opportunity to translate my knowledge and passion for mountain biking into a bigger, better off-road product line at Giant,” he said. “With the company’s extensive manufacturing capabilities, Giant truly has ownership of their bikes from concept to delivery. That allows our team to develop the best products available.”

In announcing the addition, Kevin Dana, Giant Global off-road category manager, said, “Silas has a broad understanding of the global retail environment, and he brings a unique vision to the off-road line. He’s hit the ground running at Giant, meeting our key U.S. retailers at The Link and then off to Eurobike.”

Dana added, “Silas is also an avid mountain bike rider and competitive racer. He recently competed in the Elite Men’s Class at the 2011 U.S. National championships, netting a highly-respectable 22nd place in the Super-D competition.”

Hesterberg is working from Giant USA’s headquarters in Newbury Park, California. He and his family—wife Carrie and children Maddox, Oliver, and Stella—have relocated to nearby Ventura.
