J&B makes EPA list of 100% green power users

MIAMI, Fla. (BRAIN) — J&B Importers has once again made the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's list of 100 percent Green Power Users.

The Florida-based distributor is purchasing more than 1.4 million kilowatt-hours of green power annually, which the company reckons saves more than 1.9 million pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. J&B also is buying renewable energy certificates from Renewable Choice Energy, an energy credits organization.

"We're very honored that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized our efforts," said Ben Joannou Jr., J&B's vice president. "Our participation in this program embodies our commitment to innovative business practices and even touches upon the cornerstone of our advocacy for alternative transportation: a multifaceted approach to sustainability. It is fitting that as a major supplier to the cycling industry, which contributes to a world with a smaller carbon footprint, we should run our enterprise accordingly."

According to the EPA, J&B Importers' green power purchase is equivalent to avoiding the carbon dioxide emissions of nearly 200 passenger vehicles per year or the CO2 emissions from the electricity use of more than 100 average American homes annually.
