Former Zipp owner Andy Ording invests in Silca

Published September 10, 2014

LAS VEGAS (BRAIN) — Andy Ording, the former owner of Zipp Speed Weaponry, has made an investment in Silca, which is owned by former Zipp engineer Josh Poertner. Poertner bought the nearly century-old brand last year and moved it from Italy to Indianapolis.

"Andy has been a long time friend, an amazing mentor, and more recently, the person I go to for help and advice with complex business. His partnership in the new SILCA brings significant expertise and experience that will help us accelerate our growth," said Poertner.

Ording said, "Josh was for many years the technology leader at Zipp as he has a very keen eye for design and engineering detail but moreover he has the technical capabilities to create something from literally nothing. Silca is a legendary and respected brand so when this combined opportunity was manifested, I jumped at the opportunity."

Silca is at Interbike this week in booth #15011.
