New BikeFlights.com program supports NICA

Published April 11, 2016

PORTLAND, Ore. (BRAIN) — Bicycle shipping service BikeFlights.com has launched a "Buck Up for Bikes" advocacy program to support the National Interscholastic Cycling Association.

BikeFlights.com customers have the option to contribute $1 to NICA when they book their bike shipping at BikeFlights.com. The company will collect and track all donations with the goal of raising a minimum of $1,000 for NICA before Interbike in September.

"We appreciate the good work of NICA to develop interscholastic mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the United States and want to help them toward their goal of being coast to coast by 2020," said William Alcorn, BikeFlights.com's owner. "Our new grass-roots fundraising program is a collective effort among our growing business, our customers and NICA."

The Buck Up for Bikes Program is currently live after being soft launched earlier this season. It has already raised $540 for NICA and $460 for its other beneficiary organization, the Amy D. Foundation, which supports young women through cycling.

"We couldn't be more grateful for the creativity and initiative BikeFlights.com has put into the Buck Up for Bikes program. It's this kind of support that allows us to continue sharing school-based mountain biking with new communities around the country," said Austin McInerny, NICA's executive director.

As a new partner with NICA for 2016, BikeFlights.com also facilitates NICA staff travel with bikes and will help attendees of the NICA National Conference ship their bikes to and from the conference in Eagle, Colorado, in June.
