BURNABY, British Columbia (BRAIN) — Rob Moore, the director of engineering for Race Face and Easton Cycling, has died at 46, the company said. He died Sunday of an aggressive form of melanoma cancer, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife Catherine and their three young children.

Moore had a long history with the brand, having worked with Race Face as a design engineer early in his career. He went on to build an extensive portfolio in the ski industry with G3: Genuine Guide Gear. Eventually, his love of bikes drew him back to Race Face in 2014 where he continued to innovate, leading the next generation of design engineers.

"Rob left this world as he lived, with bravery and grace," said Chris Tutton, the president of RFE. "I had the honour of working with Rob during our early years at Race Face, always in awe of his disarming nature, his constant pursuit of engineering excellence and his commitment to our brand. Welcoming him back to the Race Face family 10 years later was one of the highlights of my career; a day that I will never forget."

RFE Holding Corp. and parent company Fox Factory Holding Corp. are collaborating to create a legacy fund in Moore's name.
