BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — John Bradley is leaving Competitor Group Inc., where he is editor in chief of VeloNews and senior vice president of media for all CGI's titles. He is leaving to join a tech start-up.

Bradley joined VeloNews as editor in June of 2015 following a career that has included stints at Outside and Wired magazines. In May this year he was promoted to SVP of media

Bradley is joining a tech firm, Carrot Sense, that is coming out with a medical device to help people quit smoking. The device will measure carbon monoxide in the user's blood to provide feedback to help in quitting the habit. Bradley has been on the company's advisory board for over a year and is leaving CGI to become Carrot Sense's senior director of communications.

Bradley, who was involved with tech startups before joining VeloNews, said he made the connection with Carrot Senses' founder after writing an article about fitness wearables for Outside.

He said he hopes to continue contributing to VeloNews on a freelance basis.

"VeloNews was my first love and why I came over here. I'm really going to miss it. But I'm leaving it in good hands," he told BRAIN.

Bradley's last day at CGI will be Wednesday. He said he expects CGI to announce a new editor in chief of VeloNews this week.
