TAIPEI, Taiwan (BRAIN)—Executives at Eurobike and Bike Expo, a new German trade show in Munich, tiptoe around the phrase “trade show war.” But Messe Friedrichshafen and Messe München appear headed for a toe-to-toe slugfest over the world’s leading trade show—Eurobike.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (BRAIN)—Outdoor Retailer's 2009 Summer Market Open Air Demo has been changed from two days to one day.

This year's Open Air Demo will take place at Pineview Reservoir (near Odgen, Utah) on Monday, July 20, prior to OR Summer Market's indoor expo, July 21-24.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (BRAIN)—After the huge success of last year's North American Handmade Bicycle Show in Portland, there were some grumbles and moans—mainly from west coast builders—after show founder Don Walker announced that this traveling show was heading to Indianapolis for 2009.

MELBOURNE, Australia (BRAIN)—Organizers of a new trade show in Melbourne, Australia have changed the event’s name to Ausbike after initially calling itself Interbike Australia and using a logo nearly identical to that of Interbike’s.

SPEEDWAY, IN (BRAIN)—Despite a down economy, the 5th annual North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS) is holding its own, with 115 exhibitors as of yesterday.

While this is not the record 150 set in Portland in 2008, it is up from to the 2007 figure of 105 in San Jose—in a good economy.

MILAN, Italy (BRAIN)—At the conclusion of last November’s EICMA show, Costantino Ruggiero said the bicycle show was facing a difficulty, noting that since moving its dates from September to November, exhibitor numbers had dropped.
