BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Tim Johnson's Ride on Chicago (formerly Tim Johnson's Ride on Washington) is preparing for the annual five-day bike tour benefiting PeopleForBikes.

Johnson, a pro cyclocross racer, and 24 other riders will get underway May 29 in Kansas City, finishing in Chicago June 2.

Detroit Bikes' new B-Type frame

DETROIT, Mich. (BRAIN) — In order to offer a better fit for smaller riders, American bike manufacturer Detroit Bikes has announced it will begin production on a new frame style, the B-Type, early next week.

SAN DIEGO (BRAIN) — In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, BMC is recalling three lifestyle bike models — Alpenchallenge, Masschallenge and Urbanchallenge — because of breakage issues with their Aprebic forks. The forks can break above the brake mount. No injuries have been reported, and the recall affects 160 bikes.

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam (BRAIN) — Information on the rioting that may have partially destroyed or damaged a variety of Taiwanese-owned factories in Ho Chi Minh City is sketchy, but initial reports say at least a half-dozen were damaged or destroyed.
