IRVINE, Calif. (BRAIN) — Bosch and Troy Lee Designs are producing an electric mountain bike races at a California ski resort this summer.

The BOOGALOO race is Sept. 16 at Mammoth Mountain. The race will be for Class 1 bikes and will be held on courses specifically designed for e-MTB racers. The race will offer pro, amateur and industry categories.

"Our brand has been at the forefront of a lot of cool new disciplines of bike racing and moto racing over the years and we somehow always luck out to find great partners that share our vision for fun, but also trying something new and different in racing. These pedal assist e-bikes have changed my life, so I figure why not race these things," said Troy Lee, the founder and president of Troy Lee Designs.

Claudia Wasko, the general manager of Bosch eBike Systems Americas, said, "Based on the excitement and participation at last year's Kamikaze Bike Games and Sea Otter Classic e-MTB races, we think California is ready to take e-MTB racing to the next level."

The Mammoth race is being held in conjunction with the Kamikaze Games of 2017 USA Cycling Pro Gravity Tour.
