AUSTIN, Tex. (BRAIN) — Just two months after opening his first store outside the Austin city limits in Bee Cave, Texas, retailer Hill Abell has opened a fifth location near the University of Texas campus.

LOS ANGELES (BRAIN) — Banker Supply, which opened its first urban cycling lifestyle store in 2014 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will open a new location in Los Angeles next week. The retailer has plans to open its third location, in Chicago, later this year, and two more locations next year.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (BRAIN) — Erik's Bike Shop purchased the two Kansas City, Kansas-area locations of retail chain BikeSource. The acquisitions raise Erik's store count to 26 locations throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and, soon, Kansas.

Wabi bikes are manufactured in Taiwan and assembled in Tulsa.

TULSA, Okla. (BRAIN) — When friends Matt Gragg and Curtis Kline decided to buy a business earlier this year, they looked at options in several industries, including a brand that makes packs for wildland firefighters and a company that manufactures fire trucks.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (BRAIN) — Retailer George Garner, Sr., who owned and operated several stores in California and the Chicagoland area, passed away Sunday, October 2. He was 93. Garner had a huge influence on the way retailers around the country operated their bike shops in the 20th century.

SAN FRANCISCO (BRAIN) — Timbuk2 is opening its first stores in New York, opening first in Manhattan on Oct. 15 followed by a Williamsburg, Brooklyn, store opening in November.
