Working with sales and marketing manager Bryan Mason, Mercanti will oversee brand communication, in-house content creation and help expand the brand’s moto division.

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (BRAIN) — Hwa Fong Rubber, parent of the Duro tire brand, has begun a partnership with mountain biker Hans Rey. 

According to the tire brand, Rey will bring his knowledge and expertise to both the R&D and marketing departments at Duro and assist in developing the brand worldwide.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (BRAIN) — Matthew Pfeffer, a long-time bike industry testing engineer and vice president of global operations at ACT Lab, died Thursday. He was 50.

Pfeffer died from complications stemming from an acute case of influenza.

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (BRAIN) — Garmin Ltd. has acquired iKubu (Pty) Ltd., a South African company that has developed a rear-facing radar system for bicyclists. iKubu introduced its Backtracker device at the Eurobike show last summer.
