MUNICH, Germany (BRAIN) — Electric bikes and cargo bikes were the stars of the ISPO BIKE show held here last week.

Some 5,500 trade visitors attended the show at Munich's expo center and a survey found that 66 percent of visitors said e-bikes and pedelecs were their "top destination" for the show.

DEER VALLEY, UT (BRAIN) — This was DealerCamp’s fourth year to build a relevant dealer event that could attract more than several hundred retailers. On that score, Lifeboat Events failed to deliver.

PROVIDENCE, RI (BRAIN) — This year's Providence Cyclo-cross Festival opens a day early and features extra clinics for beginners, women and kids. The festival is now Oct. 4-6 and is being held once again at Roger Williams Park, within the city of Providence.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (BRAIN) — Interbike opened registration Monday for retailers and media planning to attend this year's show. Show organizers also opened registration for its consumer day, called Interbike by Invitation.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (BRAIN) — The Philly Bike Expo, a consumer show, will move into a larger space this year, the newly expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia. The show is November 9-10.

NEW YORK, NY (BRAIN) — Bike New York continues to see exhibitors sign up for its second annual Bike Expo New York show May 3-4. Specialized will return to the show, joining Raleigh, REI, Thule, Timbuk2, Primal Wear, Osprey, Nutcase, Eastern Mountain Sports and Terry Bicycles, among others.

NEW YORK, NY (BRAIN) — Registration for the 2013 TD Five Boro Bike Tour opens Jan. 22 at noon.

The May 5 tour, said to be America's largest cycling event, is a 40-mile trip through all of New York's boroughs on streets closed to traffic. Organizers expect 32,000 participants.

In a twist, the consumer show adds a trade-only day

ATHENS, GA (BRAIN) – Organizers of the Southeast Bike Expo say after a successful inaugural year they will hold the show again in February 2013, but are adding a day for dealers only.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (BRAIN) — Interbike is opening its door to the public next September, but just a crack. Organizers are testing the concept of a restricted consumer day where consumers would pay $50 in advance and register through local dealers before getting a badge as a retail VIP guest.
