BRAIN works with PeopleForBikes to publish industry directory

Published September 29, 2014

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. (BRAIN) — Bicycle Retailer & Industry News and PeopleForBikes have partnered to update and publish the annual Industry Directory. The BRAIN Directory is the most complete listing of an estimated 2,200 North American companies and nonprofit groups serving the bicycle industry and its retailers.

The standalone publication will be mailed to BRAIN subscribers polybagged with the January 1 issue. Companies and nonprofit groups wishing to be included or have their listing updated must submit their information by Nov. 7, 2014.

"This collaboration is a win-win scenario," said Jenn Dice, vice president of government relations at PeopleForBikes. "The Directory data is critical to PeopleForBikes' mission of creating a powerful and united voice for better bicycling. Starting this year, we will manage the updates and maintenance of the Directory. We plan to use this information to mobilize and connect with industry stakeholders."

Megan Tompkins, BRAIN's publisher, is equally pleased with the partnership. "We've always seen the Industry Directory as a labor of love, but maintaining it falls outside of our journalistic scope," said Tompkins. "Partnering with PeopleForBikes improves the quality of the information and ensures that we can continue to publish this valuable resource."

The 2015 Directory will again feature a general category index and a dedicated section for distributors and the lines they carry. The index lists products by category, making it easy for bicycle dealers to find companies manufacturing or distributing specific products. Julie Kelly, who has managed the directory updates since 2011, continues in this role as a consultant with PeopleForBikes.

Inclusion in the Directory is free, but companies are responsible for supplying updates and additions no later than Nov. 7, 2014. Also, a request for verification will be emailed to all entities currently listed in the 2014 Industry Directory. For all new directory listings, companies can fill out an online form.

Please contact Julie Kelly at Julie@peopleforbikes.org with any questions regarding a listing or update.
