Fazua names its initial US OEM partners

MUNICH (BRAIN) — German e-bike motor company Fazua has announced a list of preliminary OEM partners in the U.S. for 2020.

Bulls Bikes, Pinarello, Look, Fantic Bicycles, Budnitz Bicycles, Cairn Cycles, and Cube Bikes will have U.S. models using the Fazua Evation mid-mounted drive system designed for road and gravel bikes. Other bike manufacturers will be announced later, said Felix Kuffner, Fazua's head of marketing.

Details about service partnerships for the U.S. and Canada will be announced next month, Kuffner said. Fazua recently said Ampere Plus will be the service partner for Switzerland.

"Fazua is not just providing the lightest mid-motor system on the market but is also known for its great service," Kuffner said. "This is key to gain trust from end customers and to have a chance to compete in the crowded field of drive-system suppliers."

The 250Wh Evation weighs 10.1 pounds, and Fazua says the system has no resistance when riding without assistance.

When Bulls recently announced its 2020 models, it made special mention of the Alpine Hawk EVO with the Fazua Evation drive system as "one of the most highly anticipated bikes Bulls has ever released."

"Our OEM customers also appreciate our support before, during and after a project," Kuffner said. "Our sales team isn't just selling our products to clients; we help to find the right choices for manufacturers to support with developing the frame or even help with their marketing strategy if needed. We think that a strong relationship with customers is more sustainable than a short term increase in sales."

Battery certification delays slowed Fazua's entry into the U.S. market. Fazua, which has manufactured e-bike motors since 2013, had to redesign the internals of its battery to gain U.S. certification. The company has had an 80% marketshare in Europe on electric road and gravel bikes.
