Mavic hires Sporidis as GM

Published February 4, 2013

HAVERHILL, MA (BRAIN) — Mavic Inc. has hired Phillip Sporidis as general manager, effective Monday. Sporidis comes to Mavic most recently from Amoena USA, a leading producer of post-breast cancer wellness products for women, where he served as president. He also is a former manager at Cannondale.

“Phillip is an entrepreneurial and visionary organizational leader with demonstrated successes in growing and transforming global businesses,” said Philippe Niedree, global sales director for Mavic SAS. “He brings multi-functional experience in premium brand sales and marketing, product management, and global sourcing and supply chain, with demonstrated P&L results,” said Niedree.

Prior to joining Amoena, Sporidis spent two and a half years as the global general manager for apparel, footwear and accessories at Cannondale. He also was a global sourcing and supply director at Giani Pietri Inc., a multi-brand outdoor apparel company. Sporidis also worked at Half Moon Bay Outfitters, and for W.L. Gore & Associates as a product manager.

“We’re thrilled that Phillip is joining our team in Haverhill,” said national sales manager Larry Burke. “Clearly, he’s got the right skill set to lead our company, and he’s perfectly positioned to help us achieve our goals.”  Burke added, “He’s an experienced cyclist and he’s been using Mavic products for a long time, so we have no doubt he’s going to fit in perfectly with our company.”

For the past two months, Burke has managed day-to-day operations for Mavic Inc. as interim general manager. Former GM Hugh Walton stepped down in November for health reasons, and the search for a permanent replacement had been ongoing since then.
