CHICAGO (BRAIN) — SRAM is promising to have its new hydraulic brakes ready to go back on consumers' bikes sometime during the second half of April.

MORGAN HILL, CA (BRAIN) — Specialized is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall about 173 commuter bikes because of a problem with their dynamo front hubs.

Company expects to have mechanical systems delivered by Jan. 15.

CHICAGO, IL (BRAIN) — SRAM on Friday told consumers to immediately stop using bikes equipped with its Red 22 and S-700 hydraulic road brakes.

WATERLOO, WI (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycle is recalling about 6,800 Madone road bikes because of a problem with their front brake. The company, which is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision on the recall, said it has received five reports of loose front brake attachment bolts.

OGDEN, UT (BRAIN) — Tektro USA/TRP Brakes has issued a voluntary recall notice for about 4,000 TRP Spyre and Spyre SLC mechanical disc brake calipers.

10-speed rear mechs can jam

CHICAGO, IL (BRAIN) — SRAM is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and authorities in other nations to recall some Red 10-speed medium-cage rear derailleurs.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN) — Burley Design is recalling about 4,150 Tailwind racks used for hitching children’s trailer cycles to adult-size bicycles because the top portion can break and allow the trailer cycle to disconnect.  

SOLANA BEACH, CA (BRAIN) — ElliptiGO, manufacturer of outdoor elliptical cycles, is recalling about 7,000 of its units in the U.S. and 200 in Canada because the front fork can separate and the drive arm axles can detach during use.

The company says situation applies to a narrower range of serial numbers than initially reported.

IRVINE, CA (BRAIN) — Shimano, which announced a voluntary recall of some of its cable-pulled disc brake calipers last month, is now working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision and Canadian authorities on an official recall of the same products.

IRVINE, CA (BRAIN) — Shimano is voluntarily recalling its mechanical disc brake calipers for road bikes sold after February last year.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRAIN) — Cannondale is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall about 500 Slice time trial bikes because the "brake plate" can loosen. The company has received one report of the loosening and no reports of injuries. 

BLOOMINGTON, MN (BRAIN) — QBP is recalling about 1,700 Salsa brand forks because they can bend above the disc brake mount. The forks were sold individually and with the Salsa Vaya and Salsa La Cruz framesets and complete bikes.

WASHINGTON, DC (BRAIN) — Bell Helmets is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall about 2,500 BMX helmets sold exclusively at Toys R Us. The helmet's buckle can release on impact, allowing the helmet to fall off the rider.
