Leisure Trends Group Accepting Retailers

Published May 11, 2009

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN)—Leisure Trends Group (LTG) now has open enrollment for independent bicycle stores that want to join the nearly 200 dealers that have signed up for the new information service, which will begin publishing reports this summer based on point-of-sale transactional information beginning in June.

The service provides retailers with benchmark data for measuring best practices for managing inventory, sales and return on investment. The methodology is successfully employed in other industries such as ski, snowboard, running, outdoor, sport optics, camping, water sports, scuba diving, outerwear and sportswear.

“Inventory management is the most difficult part of managing a retail store. Forecasting trends, managing sales, predicting velocity, understanding what consumers are buying, controlling markdowns, assortment planning, expanding sales and monitoring margins and profits are all data points retailers will have available to hone their management skills using our new information system,” said Jim Spring, president of LTG.

The program is easy to join. Retailers must have a point-of-sale system including inventory management. In return for sending data to LTG they receive monthly reports in specially designed and easy-to-read report formats. LTG conducts classes using webinars and on-site training to make sure retailers take full advantage of the information to improve their profitability.
