FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany (BRAIN) — Despite bad weather that dragged down bike sales this spring, industry leaders speaking on a panel Tuesday at Eurobike are optimistic about the spark electric bikes and new technologies will continue to provide the German market.

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) — Carbon wheel maker Mad Fiber is planning to set up wheel production in Taiwan to serve the OEM market. The company has laid off seven employees at its Seattle, Washington, facility, but is continuing to manufacture wheels there for aftermarket sales, spokesman Jasen Thorpe said.

DUARTE, CA (BRAIN) — Dr. David T. Hon, the CEO and founder of Dahon, has been nominated for the University of California, Berkeley Excellence in Achievement Award for “his contributions in high-power lasers as well as his role in revolutionizing the modern-day folding bicycle.”

RICHMOND, Victoria, Australia (BRAIN) — Accessory brand Knog said it has won an intellectual property fight in Australia against a Chinese factory. The litigation involved Knog's Australian patent on a silicone-strap LED headlight.

TAICHUNG, Taiwan (BRAIN) — Giant Manufacturing's revenue for the first two quarters of this year totaled $906 million, a 4 percent increase over the same period last year.

SYDNEY, Australia (BRAIN) — WD-40's Australian division has launched its bike products in the country, including its lubes, degreasor, foaming bike wash and frame polish and protectant.  

PETALUMA, CA (BRAIN) — CamelBak has selected Sea to Summit as the exclusive distributor of its hydration packs and reusable BPA-free water bottles in China. Sea to Summit will take over distribution after Nov. 1 from Beijin Snowpeak Trade and Technology Co. Ltd.
