MONTEREY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Fox factory unveiled the latest generation of its FOX 36 fork Thursday morning as the Sea Otter Classic opened here.
The new version of the brand's all-mountain fork has a new crown that has more steer tube overlap to improve durability and maintain stiffness while also dropping 20 grams. The forks also get the Kabolt X, a lightweight bolt-on floating axle that is said to increase torsional stiffness via a sleeveless, single-sided pinch bolt design.
The forks have Increased air volume within the lower legs to reduce the amount of unintended pressure ramping. Lower leg bath oil also circulates to the upper reaches of the legs, continuously lubricating the foam rings and bushings as the fork compresses and extends through its travel.
New lower-leg bleeders allow for atmospheric pressure equalization for better fork performance while a new lower leg design is said to increase stiffness and reduce weight.
Starting weight for a 29-inch version is 4.28 pounds (1,942 grams).
