BRAIN Dealer Tour Kicks Off Monday

Published November 6, 2008

LAGUNA HILLS, CA (BRAIN)—Next week, BRAIN's editors will hit the road for a week on Giant bicycles to visit more than a dozen dealers in Southern California.

The staff will visit retailers in Orange County—a bellwether market—to talk with them about the state of retail, issues they face, and how they are managing in today’s challenging business climate.

The weeklong Dealer Tour begins Monday. Editors will ride from shop-to-shop producing a daily roundup of web articles that the industry can follow at www.bicycleretailer.com.

“We will take full advantage of our Web site to share the unique stories, perspectives and opinions we hear from store owners and their staff along the way,” said Megan Tompkins, the magazine’s editor. “By visiting a number of retailers within this market, we will be able to provide a snapshot of the current retail environment.”

Joining BRAIN’s Dealer Tour as its presenting sponsor is Giant Bicycles. Also sponsoring the Tour is Pedro’s, Interbike and the National Bicycle Dealers Association.

In addition to providing valuable retail intelligence, the tour will allow the magazine’s editors and sponsor representatives to experience Orange County from the seat of a bicycle.

“Pedro’s heard about Bicycle Retailer’s plan to visit retailers by bike and we embraced it immediately. For us it is simple, we see it as an important way to remind retailers, their customers, and the others we’ll meet that you can get a lot done on a bicycle," said Christopher Zigmont, chief executive officer of Pedro’s. "We see the bicycle as an instrument of good and this is a terrific demonstration of that."
