SAN FRANCISCO (BRAIN) — Retailer Summit Bicycles, with five brick-and-mortar stores in the Bay Area and Silicon Valley, has signed on to Beeline Bikes’ Retail Partner Program to launch a fleet of seven mobile bike shops serving customers from San Francisco to Santa Cruz, California.

CARY, N.C. (BRAIN) — Retailer Matt Lodder operated a small home-based shop offering mobile repair services for eight years, and as his business grew he realized he needed a larger space. Lodder recently moved his repair and bike fit operation into a 1,400-square-foot space here.

COSTA MESA, Calif. (BRAIN) — The National Bicycle Dealers Association is making individual memberships available for the first time in the association's 70-year history. The program will launch this weekend at QBP's Frostbike event.

POMONA, Calif. (BRAIN) — Coates Cyclery, one of Southern California's oldest bike shops, will close its doors by the end of February.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (BRAIN) — A celebration of life and a funeral mass will be held for Chris Kegel next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17 and 18, his family has announced.

SAN FRANCISCO — Retailer Bradley Woehl, owner of American Cyclery in San Francisco, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for a cycling-themed parklet he plans to build in front of his store.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (BRAIN) — Chris Kegel, owner of the Milwaukee retail chain Wheel & Sprocket and a longtime advocate for cycling, died Tuesday after a months-long struggle with bile-duct cancer.

ARLINGTON, Va. (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycle has acquired Revolution Cycles, with locations in and around Washington, D.C. Nearby Trek dealers are mostly positive about the move.

The Chicago dealer show will move to a 100,000-square-foot space in Schaumburg, Illinois, next year.

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (BRAIN) — At the end of opening day on Wednesday, event staff had printed over 1,100 attendance badges and the show expects they will top 2,000 attendees by the end of the show.

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — The National Bicycle Dealers Association has launched its fifth annual America's Best Bike Shops program, and this year the association has made it easier to apply for the designation but in some ways also made it harder to earn it.

AUSTIN, Texas (BRAIN) — The newly formed Professional Bicycle Mechanics Association is working with United Bicycle Institute to develop a standardized mechanic certification. Once completed, the certification process would allow instruction and testing by organizations including UBI and others.

Lepak, owner of Global Bikes in Gilbert, Arizona, takes over the role from Chris Kegel, who resigned following his recent cancer diagnosis. Lepak joined the board in 2013.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN) — Liv Vancouver, the women’s brand’s first store in Canada, is set to open this Thursday, with a grand opening celebration planned for Feb. 17.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (BRAIN) — Conte's Bicycle Group LLC has promoted Mike Cox to store manager of the company's Falls Church location.
