TAIPEI, Taiwan (BRAIN) — The WFSGI's anti-counterfeiting program for the bike industry has eliminated more than 160,000 online listings for counterfeit bike products in the past three years, the group announced Thursday at the Taipei Cycle Show.

Good news for brands with less onerous carbon wheel test and relaxed rules for logos on Olympic equipment. Next target? The UCI's 3:1 and minimum bike weight rules.

OGDEN, Utah (BRAIN) — Amer Sports Corp., the owner of Mavic and several other outdoor brands, has bought Utah's Enve Composites for $50 million. 

Enve makes carbon rims, wheels and components and has annual sales of about $30 million.

AIGLE, Switzerland (BRAIN) — The Union Cycliste Internationale said it conducted an unannounced check for bike motos at the La Méditerranéenne stage race on Friday. The UCI said no technological fraud was detected.

But the company is forecasting a decline for 2016.

OSAKA, Japan (BRAIN) — Shimano's net sales were up nearly 14 percent in 2015, to 378 billion yen ($3.3 billion). Operating income also increased, by nearly 30 percent, to 85.1 billion yen.
